Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
NewsFlash ("we", "us") is a free, browser-based educational game for children ages 5–12. We designed it to be safe and private by default. This policy explains, in plain English, what we do and don't collect.
What we collect
Nothing personal. We do not ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, locations, or any other personal information. Names you type for players in a game are never sent to us — they live only in your browser's session storage.
Cookies & tracking
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate traffic statistics — like how many people visit the site and which pages are viewed. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and may collect your IP address. We do not use advertising IDs, fingerprinting, or any other third-party trackers. Game progress is saved in your browser's sessionStorage only, which is automatically erased when you close the browser tab.
How to opt out
You can install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on or use your browser's "Do Not Track" setting to limit analytics collection.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
NewsFlash is directed at children. Because we collect no personal information from any user, we are designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws like the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and GDPR-K.
Ads
There are no advertisements anywhere in the game or on this site.
Third-party services
We load a public font from Google Fonts to display the game. Google Fonts may receive your IP address as part of normal web requests but does not receive any personal information from us.
Changes
If we ever change this policy, we'll update the date above. Material changes will be announced prominently on the homepage.
Contact
Questions? Use the contact information posted on our site. For COPPA-related questions, a parent or guardian should write to us before sharing any details about a child.
